This May, join us on a guided walk through Brighton's early history as part of the Australian Heritage Festival.

Tuesday May 2 – Pub to Pub walk

Starting at the former Khyat’s Hotel in Wilson Street, we will wend our way to the Marine Hotel in New Street while revealing Brighton’s interesting history and development through significant buildings and landmarks with entertaining stories about personalities and related events.

Places to go and stories to tell: two volunteers from the Brighton Historical Society will lead this heritage walk which takes you from the site of the former Khyat’s Hotel to the recently renovated Marine Hotel which is one of the oldest hotels in Brighton. Observe the changes that are occurring and the historic houses, churches and public buildings we still use and treasure. Learn about the pioneers, the decision makers and the architects who helped establish and influence development in Brighton. Discover the origins of street and house names and hear about some of the more interesting people, their stories and anecdotes.

When: Tuesday 2 May, 11am-12pm
Where: Meet outside the Bayside Arts and Cultural Centre (former Brighton Town Hall), corner Wilson and Carpenter Streets
